4 Ways to Make Your Weekend Better

It’s Friday. And I will say this. Thank God it’s Friday. Did you know that 94% of the 1000 professionals spend over 50 hours in the office? Also, we tend to spill our work over the weekends.

Most of us are familiar with Elizabeth Gilbert’s book turned into a movie- Eat, Pray, Love. During her stay in Italy, Elizabeth discovers the phrase La Dolce Far Niente. It translates to the sweetness of doing nothing. You can either do nothing or do anything you would like to do. It’s totally up to you.

Here are 4 ways to make your weekend better if you are looking to get out of the monotonous cycle of work.

Involve yourself in social activities

It’s good to give back to your community. Engage yourself in any activity that inspires you. Be it teaching in a weekend school, helping the elderly in a retirement home or volunteering in a pet shelter. Not only do you help others, but you also help yourself. It helps you to step out of your comfort zone and learn something new about yourself.

Take a class

Do you always tell yourself, “Only if I had the time, I would learn to dance or play the guitar?” Most of us are at the crossroads and feel that we don’t get a chance to learn a new skill which is outside our workspace. The weekends are the best time to do this.

With unlimited access to the internet, learn a new language online. Learn a new sport. Follow your passion and reconnect with yourself over the weekend.

Connect with your family and friends

Disconnect yourself from those long work emails and phone calls over the weekend. The “Big Client Call” can wait till Monday. Spend time with your family. Cook together with your partner. Plan a short trip with your friends.

Get some “me-time”

Do you feel that you are burning out at the end of the week? It is okay to give yourself a break from people. Read a book, pamper yourself with a spa, meditate, reflect on your week. You could also finally go on a solo trip. Do whatever that will rejuvenate your soul.

Don’t lose your weekends with what-ifs and only I had the time. Enjoy and have a happy weekend.
